hey,

quick question, if anyone has time for some feedback...

alright, i'm a freshie music student, #1 dorm choice was stanford, since it's right next to the music building, has its own practice rooms, and the towers are predominantly where the freshies and music kids seem to end up. i ended up in pearson (had to wait forever for my assignment - just got it today).

glancing through facebook, i've determined that everyone in pearson is either doing finance or business management, and they're all upperclassmen. not exactly the crowd i was hopping to be surrounded by. not to mention the fact that it's as far from the music building as possible.

i'm considering calling and bitching and moaning to see if i can get moved if by chance someone dies or something. disregarding the fact that they probably won't give a damn about what i have to say anyway, do you guys think i should bother, or is it not worth it?

alright, i lied. that wasn't a short question. but thanks :).

there are upperclassment stcuk in the towers who wish to be in pearson. you can DEFINLTEY get into the towers. you might have to wait until school starts, but after the first week the towers clear out. by christmas...you'll almost have pick of which room you want. you'd be surprised how many people go home and dont' come back.

Yes.

...actually, there isn't much I could say that isn't already said. I was in Stanford for 2 years, and I preferred it over suite living because of the social atmosphere, practice rooms, and (yes) distance from the Music School. I know a Junior Music School major who's never left Stanford! You'll appreciate the "HOLY SH** I'M LATE FOR CLASS!" Two-minute run from Stanford to Frost.

So, it seems like you'll get a chance to get into Stanford. Good luck!

The rooms are nicer over in the Mahoney and Pearson. You share a suite with another room, and you have a private bathroom. But, if you are from out of town, and you are a freshman, it is probably better to be over in the towers, just because of the people you will get to meet. Those are much more social buildings. Mahoney/Pearson are upperclassmen, for the most part, so you won't get that same feel and interaction you would in the towers, where people just leave their doors open and everyone just hangs out.

If you don't mind the smaller rooms then I'd definently switch, and I'd do it before you'd get there. That way you don't have to set up and then move latter. If you post here you might be able to find someone, or look around on facebook.

Hey, I posted on your journal but I'll post here just in case you don't see it. I put Pearson as my 1st choice but ended up in Stanford. I will definitely switch rooms with you if you want to be in Stanford. I'm in Rosborough tower room 612 in Stanford. I called when I got my assignment about switching rooms and they said that nobody can switch until after school starts unless they have a specific person who will switch rooms with them. Please let me know if you wanna do that, cause they can probably just hit a few keys on the computer and switch our assignments. My email is will.wooten@gmail.com and my AIM is birkenstocksmell, and also I added you to my friends list so you can comment on my journal if you wanna get in touch.

If you do decide to switch, I call dibs haha. Thanks man,
-Will

I lived in Rosborough tower my freshman year and loved it. The rooms aren't great but the social life is awesome. Lots of activities and everyone is a freshman so looking to meet people. I remember a ton of music majors as well. The practice rooms are really convenient.

Living in the towers was really cool as a music major... I just got out of bed and got to theory class in 3 minutes every morning, essentially. The switch is highly recommended, the towers are great for the first year. I'm actually living in pearson this fall... I'm screwed with the distance, but whatever. Good luck!

I know odidanaos called dibs, but yea.
I'm one of those who wants to live in Pearson, but I got nothing. odidanaos has better chance.
But I am just here to say that if you aren't where you want to be, switch! Do what you want, cause that helps others (like me) get what we want. =)
Good luck switching!

Thats wierd because I was an upperclassmen who wanted to be over in the towers but I'm stuck in pearson lol. The towers are just more fun, I miss hecht.

the towers are much more fun. if you can switch to stanford, do it! i met so many amazing people over there. pearson and mahoney is cool once you have your friends already. i've found it to be much less active socially, especially the first two weeks or so. hecht and stanford are like swarming with people.
